Still collecting

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I recently attend a private weekend car rally in Bosham, West Sussex , its a special weekend organised as a get together of old cars and cars that would turn heads in a pub car park. Its called the crap run ( Cars, real ale & people ).Crap is a collection of lovely people mainly from the midlands who meet once year with their beautiful old cars. This year we met in Bosham on a Friday evening, a rally the next day around Sussex and Black Tie and pretty frocks dinner. Every year we are given a brown envelope just in case we get lost. It costs a tenner and this year and this year the members decided the money be donated to my SOS RNLI bus tour. Once again many thanks to all  the members..  So I am very pleased to inform the total has once again  increased to an amazing figure. The grand total now stands at

                                                   £ 7300.30 .

All the money is now in. The Final amount donated was £ 7103.10. Many many thanks to you all. I find it hard to believe the end result. Many thanks to all of you for supporting me. I must also say a big thank you to Ricardo, Consulting Engineers at Shoreham Airport who very kindly donated £150. Now I have to think about what I shall do next year. I do intend to put together a diary of my tour having found a dear friend who will ghost write for me ! As you have seen from my Blog, my English and spelling needs a lot of improving  which is why I need a ghost writer!!  THANKS TO YOU ALL AGAIN FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Beard Removed !!

beard-removed

After 37 years my beard was removed last Friday evening. Need proof just see the photos on this Blog. I have to say the evening party was fun and attended by family ,friends and some of the Lifeboat crew. Thanks to all who came and made it such an enjoyable evening. I was also very surprised to have Lou Purdy our RNLI Fundraising manager come and presented me with an achievement award and a model lifeboat with inscription “RNLI 2009 SOS special award.”  Many thanks Lou.    What a shock to my system, I have hated every moment since my beard came off. My skin became blotchy, it was cold and I now cannot understand why anyone would want to pay for a piece of metal and scrape it down ones face each day. A big thanks to my Niece Kate for being so careful in doing the deed !!   Its now well on to designer stubble and hopefully in another week I will be back to my old self.

Funds have risen again and I am now very near the £7000 mark. Many many thanks to all who have given me so much support.

up-date

The beard is coming off on the evening of 8th May. It is hoped that Photos of before and after will be on this site over that Weekend !  It is going to be a big shock to my system. The Newhaven Lifeboat crew will be helping to remove it !!! Understand it will be half off so photos can be taken from different profiles. All off by the end of the evening. Reckon on Saturday I will need a lot of sun creme.

Little more money to collect which should bring us close to  £6850 . Nearly £2000 more than our orginal target. Many thanks to you all.

Did you hear the interview. They broadcast tiny bits on the hour every hour up to noon. I am always amazed at how they take one sentence out of  a fraction of the interview and yes I suppose they got the point !! Did anyone hear it,would love to hear your comments.
